Recent executive orders have abruptly halted all U.S. government-funded foreign aid programs. While the U.S. State Department has announced a waiver for life-saving humanitarian assistance, the precise scope and implementation of the waiver remains unclear.

As of now, all of Medical Teams International’s U.S. government grants remain suspended. This means that the critical medical care our teams provide for people facing crisis and vulnerability is at a standstill. In communities where our work is on hold, outbreaks of life-threatening diseases like Ebola and Marburg are continuing to spread. In refugee settlements where Medical Teams is often the sole provider of basic medical care, essential services—including neonatal intensive care and emergency surgeries—are suspended. Simply put, when our work stops, lives are put at dramatically increased risk.

We are currently assessing the full impact of this suspension on our programs worldwide. Despite these challenges, we remain unwavering in our mission—to dare to love like Jesus and break down barriers to health and wholeness in a hurting world.
