Press Release Critically Needed Medicines Reach Medical Teams International in Tanzania, Thanks to Airlink & International Health Partners By Medical Teams International July 10, 2025 (DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania) July 10, 2025 – Medical Teams International in Tanzania is deeply grateful to International Health Partners (IHP) and Airlink for their generous donation and transport, respectively, of a pharmaceutical shipment valued at approximately USD $200,000. The medicines are now replenishing shelves at health posts in Nduta and Nyarugusu refugee camps. The donation includes essential medicines to treat non-communicable conditions such as diabetes and mental health. The shipment also contains much-needed antibiotics. The medicines will also be shared with Medical Teams’ partners in Tanzania providing health services in the refugee camps. Airlink, through its private sector partnerships with commercial airlines and logistics providers, transported these pharmaceuticals from the U.K. to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania at no cost – helping save over $16,000 in transportation costs and make this shipment possible. Airlink continues to provide free cargo transport and logistics services to NGOs responding to ongoing crises in East Africa. The recent, reduced funding for protracted crises means that medicines in quantities such as these are much harder to come by than in previous circumstances. Because refugees depend entirely on humanitarian aid for their medical needs, access to proper medication is critical. This donation will play a vital role in ensuring that refugees receive essential treatment for life-threatening conditions. This support will greatly enhance health and quality of life for people who have been displaced from their homes, as well as host community members. “I’m grateful for this generous support, which came in when we needed these supplies most,” said Debora Niyeha, Medical Teams Country Director in Tanzania. “We are grateful that IHP and Airlink have made it possible for us to continue delivering services to those in need despite the challenging operational context. The donation will not only benefit those under our care but will also be shared with our partner, the Tanzania Red Cross Society, to benefit all refugees in need across Nyarugusu and Nduta camps.” To donate to Medical Teams, visit medicalteams.org/donations About International Health Partners International Health Partners (IHP) is a global health NGO based in the U.K., currently delivering medicines and medical supplies to over 25 vulnerable and disaster-hit countries.
