Big Run 2012

The Big Run

The Big Run raises awareness and donations for Medical Teams International's work in Haiti. The event was created to honor the work of our volunteer Matt Bouthillier, who passed away during his service with us in Haiti.

The 2012 Big Run was held on September 29, 2012 at the Mike & Kathy Holmgren Center in Redmond, Washington.

The event was a big success with more than 200 participants. This year's event netted more than $12,000 in donations.

The event included tours of a Medical Teams International Mobile Dental van and the REAL. LIFE. Exhibit

Race results are posted on BuDuRacing.com.

Thanks to our community partners and volunteers

Bu Du Racing donated the race archway. Road ID donated 200 bibs. Overlake Christian Church donated tables and chairs. Montero Productions helped us promote the event. Prizes and treats were provided by Phiten, Talking Rain, The Essential Baking Company and Everyday Athlete.

A special thanks goes to the students of Northwest University and Lakeside School for volunteering and helping make this event a big success!

Our work in Haiti

In 2010, we mobilized more than 165 medical volunteers who trained local Haitian volunteers to treat more than 195,000 people.  We also distributed medicines and medical supplies to help an additional 250,000 earthquake survivors and cholera patients. Our medical volunteers and staff also treated more than 40,000 cholera patients and provided 1,400 rehabilitation sessions and prosthetics to those disabled in the quake.

Today, we continue to focus on the care for those who lost limbs in the earthquake with prosthesis through Haiti Advantage. Our staff and volunteers will continue to provide medical supplies and health care for thousands of orphans and vulnerable children. Further, we will be training local healthcare workers to meet the growing health challenges of those still living in tent camps and work to reduce and prevent outbreaks of cholera.

To help make our work sustainable, we help pastors and churches improve the health of those in their communities.
