(Portland, OR) April 3, 2023 — Medical Teams International, a humanitarian and health organization serving people in crisis in the Pacific Northwest and globally, is marking a very special milestone – 25 years of generous support from the Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound.

This employee-led fund made their first gift to Medical Teams in March of 1998 to support Medical Teams’ U.S. mobile dental program. Over the past 25 years, the Employees Community Fund of Boeing, Puget Sound Chapter (ECF), has funded over $492,000 in direct grants to support this program.

Thanks to the generosity of ECF and other partners, the program has expanded to include an array of patient health services and is now called Medical Teams Care & Connect Mobile Health. Working throughout Washington and Oregon with local health and community-based partners, Medical Teams improves access to care for communities of color, immigrant and refugee populations, individuals who are experiencing homelessness as well as those who are uninsured or underinsured, undocumented, or otherwise experiencing barriers to care.

Funding from ECF has helped provide dental equipment for Medical Teams’ mobile health clinic fleet. Additionally, in 2021, ECF approved a grant request of $143,000 to purchase a 39-foot mobile clinic for Medical Teams’ U.S. Programs Vehicle Replacement Campaign. The vehicle features a reception area, one medical exam area/lab and one dental operatory area to bring emergency dental and basic medical services to persons who are disproportionately affected by the lack of access to healthcare in Washington.

“Medical Teams’ employees want to acknowledge how much we appreciate the trust Boeing employees place in the calling of our work around the world and in the Pacific Northwest,” said Trina Newcomb, Medical Teams Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. “Your compassion and support are having an incredible impact for our neighbors needing basic medical services and emergency dental care. Boeing employees are truly helping to break barriers to health.”
