The value of services is estimated at $162,000 over three years

Portland, Ore., February 22, 2022 – Humanitarian health organization Medical Teams International is pleased to announce it has received a $75,000 donation from A-dec, the world’s leading dental equipment manufacturer.

The grant extends over three years in the amount of $75,000 ($25,000 per year) and began on October 1, 2021. This award will equip Medical Teams to provide 45 emergency and restorative treatment Mobile Dental clinics to counties ranging from coastal to central Oregon. These clinics, providing urgently needed dental care, will deliver services valued at $162,000 ($54,000 per year) for at least 360 people (120 per year), including children.

Additionally, the award includes a gift-in-kind donation of four dental operatories to outfit two replacement mobile health clinic vans—one in Oregon, one in Washington.

Since 1990, A-dec and its employees have supported the Medical Teams Care and Connect Program (formerly Mobile Dental), which provides critical dental care to underserved populations throughout the Pacific Northwest. Left untreated, dental problems can lead to pain, difficulty eating, and increased risk of debilitating health conditions.

“For more than thirty years, A-dec has been a proud supporter of Medical Teams International and their Care and Connect Program. It’s a special opportunity to pair A-dec’s innovative products and services with Medical Teams’ track record for reaching underserved populations with health care. I’m looking forward to our continued partnership and shared commitment to improving dentistry and dental health care,” said Marv Nelson, President of A-dec, Inc.

Two significant obstacles prevent people from receiving dental care: cost and access. Medical Teams is committed to breaking down these barriers by delivering free dental care to patients through a fleet of Mobile Dental vans. Medical Teams seeks to strengthen the existing U.S. health care system by filing crucial gaps in accessing medical care.

“We serve patients who are in excruciating pain, who have no access to dental care. We meet people who go years without health care, and our services help them get the care they need,” said Cindy Breilh, Medical Teams Executive Director, US Programs. “A-dec’s generous support will help sustain our program for an additional three years, including updating outdated equipment so our volunteers and staff can meet the needs of our neighbors suffering from dental pain.”
