(Portland, OR) September 12, 2023 – Medical Teams International, a global health and humanitarian relief organization, is pleased to announce the appointment of Cyrus Lee, DMD to its board of directors.

Dr. Lee is the CEO and executive dental director of Permanente Dental Associates (PDA). In this role, he leads more than 180 dentists, specialists, denturists, and professional staff at one of the largest independent, dentist-led, multispecialty dental groups in the nation. These dentists deliver evidence-and value-based oral health care to more than 290,000 Kaiser Permanente Dental members in the Northwest Region (Southwest WA to Eugene, OR).  Many KP dentists, including Dr. Lee, have volunteered on the Medical Teams Care & Connect Mobile Dental Clinics through the years.

Medical Teams provides free emergency dental care to communities across the Pacific Northwest. We strive to improve access to care for communities of color, immigrant and refugee populations, individuals who are experiencing homelessness as well as those who are uninsured or underinsured, undocumented, or otherwise experiencing barriers to care.

Dr. Lee earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Northwestern University (IL) and received his dental degree from the Oregon Health and Sciences School of Dentistry in 2002. The following year he completed his Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) while in the U.S. Army Medical Department. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom while on active duty, as well as assignments in the Republic of Korea before returning to Oregon in 2006 to join Kaiser Permanente Dental.  Dr. Lee is also a clinical assistant professor at the Oregon Health and Sciences University School of Dentistry.

Dr. Lee values time with his wife and three children, especially while exploring and being active in the community. In addition to work with Medical Teams International, he has served as a high school basketball coach for over ten years, first at McDaniel HS in Portland, and currently at Riverside HS in the West-Linn Wilsonville district.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Lee join the Medical Teams board,” said Martha Newsome, Medical Teams President & CEO. “He will bring expertise and vision to help us further develop our mobile dental program. He also brings international experience that will help guide us in our efforts to bring life-saving medical care to people in crisis.”
