Medical Teams International Fundraising for Life-Saving Medical Care for People Impacted by Israel-Palestine Conflict By Karen Piatt October 14, 2023 Medical Teams is Supporting International Health Partners (IHP) and America Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA) (PORTLAND, OR) October 14, 2023 – Medical Teams International, a global health and humanitarian organization, has begun fundraising to support two established relief organizations mobilizing to provide frontline medical care and services to people impacted by the ongoing, extreme violence in Israel and Palestine. Needs are escalating quickly in the region as over 400,000 children, women, and men are fleeing – a number that has grown by 25% within 24 hours alone. Thousands of people have lost their lives, and more than 10,000 more are injured with limited access to medical services. Hospitals are overrun and have been stretched far beyond their capacity. Access to services is low or non-existent because of extensive damage to health infrastructure and the volatile nature of the situation. Medical Teams has more than 40 years of experience in responding to major natural and human-made crises. We are part of a longstanding, trusted community of partners that specialize in disaster and conflict response. To help meet urgent needs in this crisis, Medical Teams has determined that the best way we can respond at this time is to support two organizations working on the ground – International Health Partners (IHP) and American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA). IHP is preparing to send critically needed medical supplies and medicines and ANERA operates in the affected areas and has deep community ties. They are currently gathering medical supplies and hygiene kits, and they are organizing qualified medical responders at the border to respond quickly in areas of greatest need as soon as the UN grants access. “Medical Teams would like to thank our generous donors for their compassion and determination to provide assistance to those impacted in this conflict,” said Martha Holley Newsome, President and CEO of Medical Teams International. “We always prioritize working with local partners and other humanitarian aid organizations to best meet needs, and we are proud to be supporting the work of IHP and ANERA. In this crisis, our common goals are to help save lives, relieve suffering, and respect the dignity of survivors.” To learn more and to make a donation, visit https://give.medicalteams.org/israel-palestine.htm About Medical Teams International Founded in 1979, Medical Teams International provides life-saving medical care for people in crisis, such as survivors of natural disasters and refugees.
