Pro Bono Services and Gifts-in-Kind from Pro Refrigeration Will Help Drive Charity’s Mission

(Auburn, WA) January 8, 2021 – As COVID-19 cases increase rapidly and state and local authorities determine the vaccine rollout strategy, the non-profit Medical Teams International is pursuing logistical plans to support its mission to serve the most vulnerable with the vaccine. The charity has partnered with Auburn-based Pro Refrigeration, Inc. which is donating its services and freezer monitoring products to Medical Teams for its mobile health clinics.

In late December, a Low Temperature Lab Freezer (recently donated to Medical Teams) was delivered to PRORefrigeration, to outfit with the PROElliot – its cutting edge, remote monitoring system – and provide other services pro bono. As experts in building and designing packaged refrigeration systems, Pro is excited to donate the time and energy to support Medical Teams’ mission, planning to be implemented through its mobile health clinics throughout Washington and Oregon.

“We are thrilled that the PROElliot can help Medical Teams handle and distribute these valuable vaccines,” said Jim VanderGiessen, Jr., CEO of Pro Refrigeration, Inc. “They needed a tool that provides real-time temperature monitoring, plus we can offer tools to alert and send alarms whenever potential issues are detected. The platform is cloud-based, connecting via cellular to our gateway that operates on Edge from the customer’s site. We have been working with CEI, (an AWS Advanced Consulting Partner based in Pittsburgh, PA) on the PROElliot platform for several months now. It is exciting to leverage these new capabilities that utilize AWS IoT services, including Greengrass, that CEI has helped us build that provide sensor/connection verification, data filtering and data storage for this critical application.”

Since June 2020, Medical Teams has been an official COVID-19 testing partner with the Washington Department of Health and since September 2020 it has partnered with the Oregon Health Authority. Medical Teams has been deployed to COVID-19 hot spots in counties throughout WA and OR, providing free testing to more than 22,000 people at high risk.
