(PORTLAND, OR) April 26, 2022 –On February 24, 2022, Ukrainians’ lives changed overnight when sirens rang out signaling the beginning of war provoked by Russia. Every night since the invasion, a pastor’s young son asks him, “Will the war end tomorrow?”. Recently, the pastor was relieved to make it to the grocery store, though there was no bread for sale. His family still lacks gas for heating and cooking. These are the realities of life now for millions of Ukrainians. These are the stories Medical Teams International hears as they provide desperately needed medical care at the border of Moldova.

Join Medical Teams as we explore stories of resilient refugees, healthcare challenges, and the history of our work in Moldova through a free virtual event, Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis: From Citizen to Refugee. Presented by Medical Teams International’s volunteer-led initiative Healthy Women, Healthy World, the program includes a panel of Medical Teams experts including Dr. Trina Helderman, Health Advisor, and CEO and President Martha Newsome. Global Ambassador Joe DiCarlo will be calling in live from Moldova, where he is deployed to support our volunteer medical teams who are providing care to Ukrainian refugees.

Tune in as we take a deeper, more personal look into the current situation in Eastern Europe that has captured the hearts and attention of the world.
