A new era of leadership begins at Medical Teams International!

We’re excited to announce that Eric W. Ha will officially step into his new role as President & Chief Executive Officer on November 4, 2024. With deep expertise in human rights, international development, and organizational leadership, Eric’s arrival marks a new chapter of growth and global impact for Medical Teams International.

A leader with over 20 years of global experience

Eric brings to Medical Teams more than two decades of experience in human rights, international development, and organizational leadership. Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer at International Justice Mission (IJM), a leading global human rights organization working to protect people in poverty from slavery, human trafficking, violence against women and children, and police abuse of power. For over a decade, Eric held several executive leadership roles at IJM and was instrumental in significantly scaling IJM’s revenue, operations, and impact.

Before joining IJM, Eric worked at Sidley Austin LLP, one of the world’s top law firms, where he managed complex litigation cases for multinational corporations and led pro bono efforts to represent individuals seeking asylum and civil rights protections. His diverse background also includes teaching constitutional law at the University of Miami Law School and clerking for Federal Judge Jorge A. Solis in the Northern District of Texas.

Outside of work, Eric lives in the Washington, D.C. metro area with his wife, Liz, and their three children. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago Law School and a B.A. in Economics with Special Honors from the University of Texas at Austin.

A vision for growth and impact

Eric is excited to lead Medical Teams into the future. Reflecting on his new role, Eric shared:

“For nearly a half-century, Medical Teams has courageously drawn near to people in crisis, providing high-quality health care and honoring their dignity. I’m deeply honored to join this incredible community and lead the critical work of our staff, volunteers, and supporters.”

Acknowledging interim leadership and looking to the future

The transition to Eric’s leadership comes after Mike Goodwin’s valuable service as Interim President & CEO. Geoff Guilfoy, Chairman of the Board of Directors, praised Mike’s dedication:

“We enthusiastically welcome Eric and look forward to working with him to increase Medical Teams’ impact in the U.S. and worldwide. We also want to acknowledge the work of Mike Goodwin, Interim President & CEO, who has successfully led Medical Teams for the past ten months. His guidance and leadership have been invaluable, and we appreciate his service.”
