May 30 - Team # 18 consisting of Dr. Michael Grady and Dr. Hendrik Scholtens leave for Haiti. Both Dr. Grady and Dr. Scholtens specialize in family practice.We have sent to Haiti 18 teams comprised of 109 volunteers and staff.
May 24 - Haiti Four-Month Report released
May 13 - We have helped more than 180,000 Haitians with medical care and more than $5 million in medicines and supplies since January.
May 12 - Team # 17 (two doctors, three nurses and one paramedic)left for Haiti.
Since the Haiti earthquake happened, we have sent more than $4.6 million in supplies and medicines to local hospitals in Haiti along with 17 volunteer medical teams, consisting of 106 people.
April 13 - Haiti Three Month Report released
During the first twelve weeks after the earthquake, Medical Teams International sent 15 teams with the first one arriving within the first three days of the disaster. More than 90 doctors, nurses and other health professionals have been working in the areas of Port-au-Prince, Leogane, Les Cayes and Carrefour. Medical Teams International met the needs of the those who are injured through:
- rehabilitating King’s Hospital with infrastructure repairs, medical staff, supplies, medicines and emergency orthopedic surgeries;
- deploying nearly 150 mobile medical units to various tent cities; and
- supplying eight hospitals with urgently needed orthopedic supplies.

Tuesday, April 6 - Medical Teams International’s Team #15 will leave Wed. April 7 for Haiti. Currently we have 21 people in Haiti: 17 volunteers and 4 staff.
Since the Haiti earthquake happened, we have sent more than $4.6 million in supplies and medicines to local hospitals in Haiti along with 15 volunteer medical teams, consisting of 91 people.
Wednesday, March 24 - We currently have 12 people in the field (9 volunteers and 3 staff). Since the earthquake happened, we have sent 14 disaster relief teams consisting of 83 people.
Monday, March 22 - We currently have 25 people in the field (23 volunteers and 2 staff). So far we have sent 83 people.
Tuesday, March 16 - Today two Interagency Emergency Health Kits cleared customs at Port Au Prince Airport, Haiti. The kits contain medicines to treat Malaria and other diseases which will increase during the upcoming rainy season. The value of this air shipment originating from the Netherlands is $963,920 and will aid about 20,000 persons for 3 months.
Monday, March 15 - Haiti Two-Month Report released.
During the first eight weeks after the earthquake, Medical Teams International sent 13 volunteer teams composed of more than 70 doctors, nurses and other health professionals. Our first team arrived in Haiti on January 15 and our volunteers have been working in the areas of Port-au-Prince, Leogane, Les Cayes and Carrefour.
For the next several months, Medical Teams International will be providing care in the cities of Port-au-Prince, Leogane and Les Cayes through:
- sending out mobile medical units where Medical Teams International volunteers will provide direct medical care services to displaced Haitians
- coordinating medical support for the hospitals and clinics in the earthquake zones
- establishing a curriculum supported by the Haiti Ministry of Health that will help address the psychosocial needs of the population
- providing post-surgical care of prosthetics and orthopedics for affected Haitians
- conducting projects that will improve community health, water and sanitation

Friday, March 5 - We currently have 15 people in the field (13 volunteers and 2 staff). So far we have sent 13 teams consisting of 73 people (66 volunteers and 7 staff).
Wednesday, March 3 - Today we sent 12 more volunteers to Haiti.
Monday, March 1 - We currently have 12 volunteers and two staff currently serving in Haiti.
Monday, February 22 - One month status report released. During the first four weeks after the earthquake, Medical Teams International sent 10 teams composed of more than 50 doctors, nurses and other health professionals. Friday, February 19 - Medical Teams International’s 12th team is leaving for Haiti on Saturday, Feb. 20 and Sunday, Feb. 21. They will be joining the 24 other medical and health personnel currently serving in hospitals and mobile clinics throughout the earthquake area. more

Friday, January 22 - We airlifted in a second shipment of medicines and medical supplies. We are now operating at several clinics and hospitals around the city.
Thursday, January 21 - We airlifted medicines and medical supplies valued at $1.2 million. These supplies will treat 45,500 people for three months. We also sent four more volunteer nurses and a doctor.
Wednesday, January 20 - We sent three doctors, two nurses, and an experienced hospital administrator via a private jet supplied by TEC Equipment Inc., owner of Volvo and Mack truck dealerships on the West Coast. TEC Equipment Inc president Dave Thompson made the decision to donate the flight after his employees contributed the funds to pay for the fuel. One member of the team is Andrew Davidson, president and CEO of the Oregon Association of Hospital and Health Systems (OAHHS) and an expert in health logistics in disaster situations. OAHHS and its counterpart in Washington State have committed to raising more than $560,000 in cash and medicines to help Medical Teams International respond to the Haiti crisis.
Monday, January 18 - Two teams of Orthopedic Surgeons arrived in Haiti, including Dr. Todd Ulmer, Dr. Chris Achterman, Dr. Tom Hoggard, Dr. Lew Zirkel, and an anesthesiologist. According to Bill Essig, “There is a critical need for orthopedic surgeons so these two teams are a real Godsend.”
Friday, January 15 - Medical Teams International's first disaster relief team arrived in Haiti and immediately started providing emergency medical care. The team includes two doctors - Dr. Joe Markee and Dr. Dan Diamond; three registered nurses - Linda Markee, Deanna King, and Anne Blaufus; and Bill Essig, VP international programs, Medical Teams International.
