The staff and volunteers here at Medical Teams International are blessed to see first-hand the impact your
generosity has in the lives of those we care for. Roslyn Gabriel, MTI’s Asia Health Advisor, recently returned from
Indonesia and had this to share…

“In a village we visited last week, I met a little girl named
Nurfadila who appeared much healthier than the others.
Seeing this four-year-old’s chubby cheeks and happy smile,
it was hard to imagine she had struggled most of her young
life with malnutrition and constant bouts of diarrhea and
fevers. But 2 months ago, her mother learned about
Medical Teams International’s program focused on
improving the health of children. We’ve engaged over 450
local volunteers and created a community based education
and monitoring program for malnourished children. Mothers learn about child health care, nutrition, how to prevent the spread of disease through better hygiene practices, and
how to prepare healthy meals with local, inexpensive ingredients.
With the knowledge and support her mother received through Medical Teams International, Nurfadila has
been able to gain almost 9 pounds in 2 months! What a remarkable improvement in such a short time. By
empowering mothers through education and providing resources and support, our programs are encouraging the
people of Indonesia to better care for themselves. That’s the kind of care that makes a lasting difference!”
