  • Our First Week

    by Website Editor | Oct 27, 2009

    Dear Friends and Family,

We finished our first 6 day work week. It was good to have a day off. It’s back for another 6 days tomorrow.

An interesting case came in on Friday. It was a one-day-old baby and the mother said he had something in his mouth and couldn't nurse. I looked in and it took a minute to figure out what it was. It appeared to be a huge tongue. A closer examination revealed a huge cyst under his tongue. It was impossible for him to get his tongue off the roof of his mouth to nurse. His skin was dry and wrinkled looking from extreme dehydration. I called our doctor, Jo, in for a consultation. The only way to fix it was to lance it and drain the fluid. I held the baby’s hands and head while Jo performed the procedure.
