  • January 23, 2010 - I have left Haiti. for now...

I have left Haiti. for now... I sit at my computer, thinking of what I have seen the last week, and what it all means. The suffering of those who remain is something that I pray will not be forgotten, passed over, as time continues on. The faces of those whose empty hollow eyes speak of a hunger much deeper than we can ever understand...these are part of the story of this country that must be remembered.

I have never seen the amount of suffering as I found in Haiti this week...perhaps never in mankind's history has there been such a massive amount of tragedy and suffering in one entire country, wrought with no warning. And even those who felt no physical harm will continue to suffer from the pain that is not seen.

For all of these, our brothers and sisters on this great earth, a new beginning must emerge, and a new life arise from the tragedy of this time. With help, with hope, and with love given so freely by those around this world, just because, I believe that there will be hope to heal this wounded, broken land and its beautiful, suffering people. This I must believe. This I must trust.
