Volunteering

If you are interested in volunteering for Medical Teams International, please note the following:

• Volunteers for Medical Teams International donate their time and services and do not receive financial compensation. If you are interested in employment opportunities, please see Careers.
• Medical Teams International accepts volunteers who are 16 years of age or older.
• We ask our volunteers for a minimum commitment of service of at least 10 hours per month for at least six months.

To apply for volunteering, please download the Volunteer Application, complete it and return it according to the instructions in the application. You will receive a packet of information regarding next steps within 7-10 business days upon submission of your application.  

Volunteer Orientation

After sending us your completed volunteer application, the next step is to attend a Volunteer Orientation! You will receive an invitation in the mail to attend. Look for new dates soon!

Volunteer Opportunities in Oregon

Distribution Center

Help us prepare our medical supplies and equipment for shipment to more than 100 countries. Positions include sorting, packing, data entry, driving, palletizing and other general support tasks. Flexible shifts during weekday business hours.

REAL. LIFE. Exhibit Greeter

Greet visitors and groups at our multi-sensory exhibit. Flexible weekday shifts, evenings and weekends available. See REAL. LIFE. Exhibit for more information.

General Office

General Office Assistants provide clerical help for our staff. Flexible shifts during weekday business hours. We recruit General Office volunteers on an as-needed basis.

Microsoft Applications Instructor: We are looking for an individual with expertise in Microsoft as well as instructional experience who could come in for a one time training to instruct our staff on some basic/intermediate/advanced techniques for using Microsoft applications. Applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Administrative and Bilingual Support (Creole): We are currently recruiting a volunteer to support the Latin American / Caribbean Department primarily by translating documents (Creole / English and French/English) and occasionally with conference calls between MTI staff, volunteers, and key stakeholders in the region. Computers available in our Tigard Headquarters but could be done at home as well. For more information, please review this position description.

International Journalist/Photojournalist: Volunteers have the opportunity to support the mission of the organization by capturing our work in communities we serve in the U.S. and worldwide through photography, video, writing, and blogging for various organizational use including newsletters, website, and marketing collateral. Mobile Dental Program

Dentists, hygienists and chair-side assistants with current, appropriate state licenses help us provide much-needed services for those in our communities. For more information, please see the Mobile Dental Volunteer page.

Represent our organization in community events such as school assemblies, concerts, fundraisers, mission festivals and many more. Occasional commitment and flexible event placement. For more information, please see the Speakers Bureau page.

Group Projects

Engage your group with a community service project! Your service time can include a tour of our REAL. LIFE. Exhibit. We currently have June 7th from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. available for a group 16 years of age or older with a maximum of 20 participants.
