The volunteers at Medical Teams International donate their time and services and do not receive financial compensation. Employment opportunities are available at www.medicalteams.org/employment.


The Speakers Bureau

The Speakers Bureau is a team of volunteers and staff whose primary purpose is to represent Medical Teams International in community events.

Community events are designed by and intended for the local communities surrounding the Medical Teams International offices in the United States. These events benefit our organization in many ways including donation designation, community involvement, marketing, publicity and public relations. Community events include school assemblies, concerts, independent fundraising dinners, mission fests, lectures and others of the like.

Membership

All Speakers Bureau members must meet ALL of the following requirements:

  • Commit to Medical Teams International’s mission statement
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a current, approved volunteer with Medical Teams International and in good standing
  • Have passed a recent criminal background check which includes work history or volunteer history with children

Speakers can be a member of any or all of the Speakers Bureau teams--Speaking Engagements, Community Events and Facilities Tours.

Speaking Engagements Team

This team conducts presentations that range from 3 to 30 minutes long to audiences of at least 10 people. Audiences may include children, potential donors and health professionals.

Members must meet all of the Speakers Bureau requirements outlined above AND must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Have currently or previously served with Medical Teams International as a board member, committee member or staff
  • Be a long-time volunteer with Medical Teams International
  • Have served with us in a medical, dental or health team
  • Have a proven track record of public speaking or received professional training in public speaking through school curriculum, Toastmasters, Rostrum, POWERTalk, etc.

Community Events Team

Members must meet all of the Speakers Bureau requirements outlined above. This team performs a variety of functions, including:

  • Setting up and tearing down promotional and marketing materials in the Medical Teams International exhibit or trade show space
  • Handing out flyers to event participants
  • Fielding questions about the organization during an event

Facility Tours Team

Members must meet all of the Speakers Bureau requirements outlined above. This team performs a variety of functions, including:

  • Handing out information to guests
  • Fielding questions about the organization
  • Hosting guests throughout the facility, distribution center and the Mobile Dental bay
