Seven-year-old makes a difference
After seven-year-old Thomas saw the destruction caused by the Haiti earthquake, he knew he wanted to make a difference. As the months passed, he did not forget the news images of Haiti.
Thomas is a photographer and has a ministry called "Four feet from the ground photography." While the name suggests the average height of a seven-year-old, it also suggests a different point of view, a different way of seeing things. Thomas’ photos reflect his unique point of view.
He asked his mom if he could sell his photos to raise money for the earthquake victims. His mom told him he could and took him to see the REAL. LIFE. Exhibit so that he could experience what real life is like for the people Medical Teams International serves around the world.
Thomas frames the photos he has taken and sells them to earn money to help the poor. Thomas plans to give the money he has earned as his “first fruits” offering at his baptism, recognizing that everything we have comes from God. Thomas knows the joy not only of capturing and sharing the beauty of God’s creation in his photos but also of serving and giving back to God what He so freely gives to us.
After visiting the REAL. LIFE. Exhibit, Thomas felt sad for the children who survived disaster and who live in poverty. He wants to remind everyone that the people in Haiti, as well as other places in the world, are still suffering and still need help. "Don't forget them," Thomas says.
Thomas is happy that he can take the gift God gave him and use it to bless others.
He knows he can make a difference.
