Financials
For the fiscal year 2011, we received $146 million in contributions and grants. This allowed us to help save or improve the lives of more than 2,143,000 people in 72 countries around the world. Additional accomplishment for the year include the following:
- Shipped $126 million in medicines and supplies to 66 countries,
- Mobilized 1,975 volunteers to help those in need,
- Sent 142 medical, dental and work teams to 21 countries,
- Provided more than $8 million in dental care to 17,707 poverty-stricken people in Minnesota, Oregon and Washington, and
- Engaged in disaster response in Haiti, Japan, Libya, Pakisan, Uganda and Uzbekistan/Kyrgyzstan.
Since 1986, Medical Teams International has delivered $1.5 billion in humanitarian aid.

Overhead
More than 97% of resources go to our programs and services. The contributions of thousands of hours of volunteers’ time and millions of dollars in donated medicines, supplies and equipment helps Medical Teams International keep its overhead to a rate of less than 3%.

Independent charity evaluators
In 2011, Charity Navigator, America's largest and most-utilized independent charity evaluator, awarded Medical Teams International 4 stars, its highest rating.Charity Navigator also awarded Medical Teams International with a 4-star rating for its Accountability & Transparency. This indicates it is adhering to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and that they execute their missions in a fiscally responsible way. MinistryWatch gave Medical Teams International its 5-Star designation and ranked it among the best faith-based nonprofits in the country. This year, they named Medical Teams International one of their 30 "Shining Light Ministries" for the eighth year in a row. In 2009, Medical Teams International was once again ranked by Forbes magazine as among the 200 Largest U.S. Charities. In 2003, Forbes magazine picked Medical Teams International for its “Gold Star Top 10” list (2003). The designation, compiled from a survey of 200 top charitable organizations across the country, lauded the relief agency for how efficiently it collects and distributes charity.
The Independent Charities of America ranks Medical Teams International as a Best Charity. Independent Charities of America represents charities that meet the highest standards of public accountability and program effectiveness and facilitates gifts to those charities from contributors in fund drives conducted at work and on the web.
