The Higley family makes a difference

Shawn and Leslie Higley took their three children to visit the REAL. LIFE. Exhibit and were touched by the needs of the people they learned about—especially the people affected by the rebel activity of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in northern Uganda.

Leslie says, “When the family came home, we immediately sat down to discuss what we could do to help. Our three kids decided we should have a garage sale and donate the proceeds. We did that and raised $367.50.”

The Higley family understood the message of the exhibit: Yes, the need is great, but we can make a difference, one family at a time.

Of the $367.50 the family donated, $200 sent $22,400 worth of donated medicines and supplies to help Ugandan children who are in camps because of the LRA; $167.50 provided malaria medicine and repellent-treated bed nets to 11 children who might otherwise die from malaria.

One family can make a huge difference.
