Aid for Syria nears destination. Ten IEHKs and ten major surgery kits sent by MTI were cleared for the final leg of delivery to Syria. Interagency Emergency Health Kits (IEHKs) contain medicines and medical supplies that will be used for treating refugees in Syria.

Congolese exodus continues. Rebels in Democratic Republic of Congo consolidated their positions in the hills around the seized city of Goma, as their leader flew to neighboring Uganda for talks aimed at urging them to withdraw. Withdrawl is unlikely, however, and Congolese continue to flee to Uganda where MTI is staffing refugee camps and caring for new arrivals.

1000 flee Congolese conflict. The Congolese army is pushing back on the rebel group M23. As a result, more than 1000 people fleeing the conflict crossed into Uganda at Matanda, where MTI teams are working.
Uzbekistan receives major shipment of medical supplies. Shukrhat Arifdjanov, Eurasia Program Manager for Medical Teams International, presented at the celebration of the arrival of three containers of medical supplies for the Emergency Hospital in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
International Day of the Girl. October 11 is a special day to bring attention to denial of basic rights to girls, bring about social change, reduce suffering in developing economies and enable girls to gain equality. Medical Teams International supports this effort and you can, too.
