(Portland, OR Jun 17, 2011 ) Medical Teams International announced this week it received a $25,000 grant from the Spirit Mountain Community Fund. The funds will be used to provide free dental care to low-income, uninsured residents in Oregon. Spirit Mountain Fund representatives presented the check to Medical Teams International officials at Grand Ronde, Ore.
“This contribution from the Spirit Mountain Community Fund will help us provide essential dental care to hundreds of disadvantaged children and adults here in Oregon,” said Bas Vanderzalm, President of Medical Teams International.
On June 15, 2011, the Spirit Mountain Community Fund granted more than $650,000 to 36 local groups. Spirit Mountain Community Fund is the charitable arm of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. They donate nearly $3 million each year to the community.
In 2010, Medical Teams International’s Mobile Dental program provided care for more than 17,000 low-income children and adults in the Northwest and Minnesota. Nearly 900 volunteer dental professionals provided approximately $7 million worth of free dental care last year.
