(Portland, OR Jun 16, 2011 ) After a devastating tornado destroyed the town of Joplin, Mo., Medical Teams International, Portland, Ore., with American Dental Industries (ADI), Lake Oswego, Ore., transported 96 boxes of urgently-needed medical goods valued at more than $54,000 to St. John’s Medical Center’s temporary facility after the hospital was destroyed.
Last week, ADI also delivered needed dental supplies and a mobile dental clinic to Joplin, because the tornado wiped out 19 dental offices.
“I spoke to one dentist who had been in his building for 40 years. He was able to retrieve one part of an X-Ray head and a microwave. Another dentist found one of his X-rays six miles away,” said Jim Kitch, vice president of sales and marketing for ADI. “The level of devastation is amazing, awe inspiring and heartbreaking,” Kitch said from the scene. “The community is still in shock.”
“ADI was pleased to assist our long-time partner and friend Medical Teams International with this critical need. ADI has been and will continue to support them in their efforts locally and globally whenever and however we can,” Kitch concluded.
