Medical Teams International Named ‘Shining Light’ by Charity Watchdog

by Barbara Agnew | Dec 05, 2013

(PORTLAND, ORE. - Dec. 19, 2007) As many Americans research charities for year-end gifts, two premier American charity evaluators have named Medical Teams International to their “A” list.

On Dec. 13, MinistryWatch.com designated Medical Teams International as one of its 30 “Shining Light” Christian ministries for 2007. The international charity evaluator compiles an annual list of 30 ministries from nearly 500 Christian organizations based on financial and industry integrity. This is the third year MinistryWatch.com has compiled the list, and Medical Teams International has been on the list all three years.

“Medical Teams International is truly one of the ‘best of the best,’” said Rusty Leonard, founder of MinistryWatch.com. “We are pleased to recognize Medical Teams International as a ministry that goes well beyond the minimum.”

MinistryWatch.com makes its annual selections based on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and major television and radio networks.

GiveSpot.com also recently named Medical Teams International to its list of 100 Top Highly Rated Charities. The organizations were hand-selected by GiveSpot’s editors for their quality, content and utility. GiveSpot.com helps donors find and evaluate more than 900,000 nonprofits and charitable organizations.

“Our donors trust us to use their gifts as effectively as possible,” says Bas Vanderzalm, president of Medical Teams International. “We’re grateful a number of independent evaluators of nonprofit organizations are including us on their annual lists of recommended charities.”

Additionally, Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest independent evaluator, awarded Medical Teams International its highest rating of four stars. It’s a designation Medical Teams International has received every year since Charity Navigator was founded in 2001. Medical Teams International is also a member of the Better Business Bureau.
