(Portland, OR. July 8, 2013) - Medical Teams International (MTI) has earned a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, the premier independent charity evaluator, for sound fiscal management practices and commitment to accountability and transparency.
“Medical Teams International’s coveted 4-star rating puts it in a very select group of high-performing charities,” according to Ken Berger, President and CEO, Charity Navigator. “Out of the thousands of nonprofits Charity Navigator evaluates, only one out of four earns 4 stars -- a rating that now, with our new Accountability and Transparency metrics, demands even greater rigor, responsibility and commitment to openness. MTI supporters should feel confident that their hard-earned dollars are being used efficiently and responsibly when it acquires such a high rating.”
Since 2002, Charity Navigator has awarded only the most fiscally responsible organizations a 4-star rating. This year, Medical Teams International is among the few organizations who have consistently earned the top rating; only 4% of charities rated have received at least 5 consecutive 4-star evaluations.
“We’re deeply gratified by the external validation of our program effectiveness and financial stewardship that this fifth consecutive 4-star rating represents,” said Jeff Pinneo, President and CEO of Medical Teams International. “It’s a tremendous reflection of the dedicated expertise of our staff and board and of their relentless commitment to quality, efficiency and integrity in everything we do in caring for the world’s most marginalized.”
