Portland and Seattle area business executives joining the team

PORTLAND, Ore. – (November 17, 2016) Medical Teams International (Medical Teams) today announced Mike Goodwin and Elizabeth Lie will be joining its board of directors.

“Mike and Elizabeth are both long-time Medical Teams International champions and we are thrilled to have them onboard, especially as we gear up to expand our response to emergency refugee and health needs in both the Middle East and Africa,” said CEO Martha Holley Newsome.

J. Michael Goodwin, President and CEO of the Oregon State University Foundation

Under Mike’s leadership, the university's first campus-wide fundraising effort, The Campaign for OSU, raised more than $1.1 billion. In 2012, the foundation passed the $100 million milestone for annual fundraising for the first time. Mr. Goodwin also added a commitment to the foundation’s strategic plan to educate and advocate in support of public higher education in Oregon and beyond.

“Becoming involved with Medical Teams over the past couple of years has been a very rewarding experience for me and my wife Sheila,” says Goodwin. “The opportunity to join the board and contribute to the great work the organization is doing around the world is humbling and I look forward to getting started.”

Elizabeth Lie, Owner and President of the ELKI Corporation

Elizabeth is the owner of the ELKI Corporation which imports and distributes gourmet food products from all over the world.

Aside from her commitment as a volunteer with Medical Teams, she has been involved with various non-profit organizations including City Church, Union Gospel Mission, Jubilee Reach, Christa Ministries and Children of the Nations.

“I’m so humbled and excited to be a part of this amazing board and gain a deeper understanding of this incredible organization,” Lie said.

As board members, Goodwin and Lie will share governance and oversight responsibility with other members for execution of the Medical Teams International mission as well as the underlying strategic and financial plans developed to support it.
