Good news travels fast
In the community of Tierra y Libertad in Mexico lives a man named Marcos. Not too long ago, Marcos heard about Medical Teams International and our work in a neighboring community. He heard about the ecological latrines we built for the community’s families and how these have helped improve the health and well-being of the people living in the area.
Marcos was inspired by what he heard. Until then, he and his then-pregnant wife, Reina, and their 8-year-old daughter, Monserrat, were living in a home with a pit latrine. They found this pit latrine to be an unpleasant necessity as the stench was unbearable and it always attracted flies. This was also a constant worry for them because flies transfer illnesses.
