Ending the school year with a bang
As students all over the U.S. were winding down on homework and gearing up for the summer festivities, 25 7th and 8th grade students from Sherwood, Ore. ended the school year with a bang. In a span of just two weeks, the members of Laurel Ridge Middle School’s Leadership Class used all their resources to help raise money for Haiti through Medical Teams International.
It all started with a visit to Medical Teams International’s Real. Life. exhibit in Tigard, Ore.
Some of the class’ members visited our exhibit on their own time and found themselves moved to help make a difference.
Since then, the Leadership Class raised funds by:
- Hosting a “Hat and iPod Day” where students paid $1 to wear a hat to school and to use their iPods during their break times.
- Holding a Krispy Kreme fundraiser where they were able to sell 144 donuts in 10 minutes.
- Selling “LRMS for Haiti” bracelets for $2 each.
In just two weeks, these 25 amazing young people were able to raise more than $500!
Thank you, Laurel Ridge Middle School, for making a real life difference in Haiti!
