Fifteen-year-old Frenel
Thousands of people lost limbs in the January 12th earthquake in Haiti. Frenel, age 15, is a vibrant, active normal young man who, like many his age, really enjoyed playing soccer. Sadly, Frenel lost his right leg below the knee in the earthquake.
Frenel kept his faith and hope while his limb was healing from the amputation surgery. "I know that I will have life after this; I just hope that I can play soccer again."
The Advantage Program of Medical Teams International was able to provide Frenel with an artificial leg that was custom fit to provide him with the most functionality possible. One of the first things he did after receiving his artificial leg was to kick around a soccer ball. The smile on his face was worth gold to all of the Advantage staff.
With your help and support, we continue to assist in the rehabilitation of the people in Haiti by providing medical care, supplies, and equipment, as well as providing encouragement and assistance to help them integrate back into society regardless of their disabilities.
