Great Adventure Dinner and Auction Achieves Record-setting Results!
Over 600 guests opened their hearts to Medical Teams International—raising a record-setting $1.3 million at the November 7th Great Adventure Dinner & Auction.
“It was a miracle of God’s grace, of hearts eager to give, of talented people working together to change the world for thousands of people who have nothing,” explained Bas Vanderzalm, President of Medical Teams International. “The impact of this auction will be seen in communities around the world. With these funds, we’ll help families with dental needs here in the Pacific Northwest as well as send additional volunteer medical teams and supplies to places like Ethiopia and Vietnam.”
In keeping with the Medical Teams International’s volunteer team concept, over 800 volunteers and donors came together to make this event successful. This extraordinary team was led by Co-Chairs Kathi McCoy and Scott and Dana Cress and Honorary Chairs Mal and Janeen McAninch.
More than $790,000 was raised during an astounding special appeal. Julianne Johnson-Weiss set the stage singing an inspiring rendition of “You Raise Me Up” and a $125,000 matching grant from the Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund motivated guests to give generously. Matt Zaffino, from KGW News Channel 8, emceed the evening and Jeff Stokes was the auctioneer.
