(SEATTLE, WASH., June 26, 2012) – The 13th annual ‘Field of Dreams’ dinner and auction hit it out of the park at Safeco Field on Saturday, June 23rd, raising $1.61 million to support the work of Medical Teams International. More than 800 people attended this major league event co-chaired by Don & Maxine Barnard and John & Danielle Carlson.

Mack Strong, former Seattle Seahawks fullback, was emcee for the evening, and radio celebrity John Curley served as auctioneer. The evening’s many special guests included University of Washington men’s basketball coach Lorenzo Romar, women’s basketball coach Kevin McGuff and football coach Steve Sarkisian, who threw footballs out to bidders in the crowd. A highlight of the evening was guest speaker Seth Gary, of IlahieHoldings, Inc. in Seattle, who spoke movingly about his volunteer experience with Medical Teams International in Guatemala.

“We had an amazing night marked with incredible generosity and compassion by those who came,” says Bas Vanderzalm, president of Medical Teams International.  “I know God will use the funds donated at this event to bring hope and healing to hundreds of thousands of people around the world and here at home.”

Major sponsors included Alaska Airlines, LifeWise Health Plan of Washington, Bicycle Adventures, and ExOfficio.

Since 2000, the Field of Dreams event has raised more than $10 million for the work of Medical Teams International.
