SPECIAL PROGRAM AND OPEN HOUSE
REAL. LIFE. EXHIBIT
On Sunday, March 11, 2012, exactly one year after the earthquake and tsunami that devastated large parts of Japan, Medical Teams International will host an Open House and special program in recognition of this disaster at its REAL. LIFE. Exhibit in Tigard, Oregon.
Kirk Hale, of Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue, will share his experiences in Japan as a disaster-response volunteer with Medical Teams International. Staff members will also discuss current conditions and plans for future work in Japan.
Those attending this event will be able to tour the REAL. LIFE. Exhibit, where they will stand under a 25-foot tsunami wave and experience what the disaster was like. They will read stories and drawings created by children who survived the South Asia tsunami.
Medical Teams International is working in Japan in cooperation with CRASH Japan, a local, faith-based relief organization. In the past year, with volunteer and staff support provided by Medical Teams International, CRASH Japan has mobilized 1,400 volunteers to rebuild communities, provided personal support for those still living in temporary shelters and transitional housing, and delivered 300 tons of relief supplies throughout the affected area.
This event is open to the public. There is no charge for admission.
