Choose Life is a facilitator’s guide for youth-focused HIV prevention programs and targets behavior change among at-risk youth. The approach is values based and promotes delaying sex until marriage and partner faithfulness through the use of stories that focus on self-image, peer pressure, temptation, sexual abuse and unwed pregnancy. The guide builds life skills through interactive games, dialogue and includes Bible stories and reflection verses that relate to each of 12 lessons. Choose Life offers two versions: one for ages 10-14 and another for ages 15 -19.

This facilitator guided resource can be used to share facts concerning HIV and AIDS and reduce the stigma associated with AIDS. Sessions promote healthy behavior based on God’s plan for sex, marriage and families.

This manual uses the Stages of Change model of behavior change to assist in the reduction of HIV transmission and the strengthening of marriages. The lesson structure involves peer groups, consisting of men and women of all ages, in a participatory learning format.
