Field Highlight: Swane and Evelyn in Liberia

by Katie Carroll | May 03, 2014

Evelyn is a Trained Traditional Midwife from Kebede Clinic in Sinoe County, Liberia. She referred a small boy in her village with “running stomach” (diarrhea) to a clinic after learning that kids under five years of age need prompt treatment. It is easy for small children to quickly become dehydrated, making an easily treatable illness become serious and life-threatening. Luckily for this little boy, Evelyn was there and now he is playing with his siblings!

S. Swane is a General Community Health Volunteer in Placekaine village near Seyon Town Clinic in Sinoe County, Liberia. After learning the important danger signs for children under five years old, he referred a two-year old with “hot skin” (fever) to a clinic.

Thank you for your support of our safe motherhood program in Liberia and around the world.  Your generous donations provide this training that helps to save lives of children.  Thank you.
